Real-Time Rap Battles

PLAYING ANYTIME, ANYWHERE ERIK TORENBERG, FOUNDER OF RAPT.FM

Detroit-based entrepreneur Erik Torenberg, also known as “T-Berg,” believes that anyone can have fun rapping. While at Startup Weekend in January 2012 with fellow U-M student Jamie Pitts, he started to build the company Rapt.fm, a format that allows people to rap battle each other in real-time using a Skype video call, hip-hop beats and an audience that votes on the winner. While there, he also caught the attention of the founder of Bizdom, a Cleveland- and Detroit-based accelerator, who convinced him to come to Detroit and join his program.
