Quick Tips

Take these tips from employers and make the most of your interactions with organizations at the fair:

Do your homework
Employers tell us research is the key to successful exploration. It will allow you to make the most of your time at the Fair.

Make your resume work for you
Spend some time developing your resumé. It’s your introduction to organizations attending the fair and the “legacy” you leave after the fair.

Dress for Success
Organizations participating in fairs say first impressions count, so give some thought to what you wear to the fair. Consider the type of organization/position you are interested in and take notice of what employers wear at presentations, on the organization web site or in the literature. Suits or business casual…both are appropriate for International Opportunities Fair. Keep in mind, however, “business casual” doesn’t mean “classroom casual”. In general it is better to be overdressed than underdressed. Bottom line – you want the organization to focus on the content of your conversation not on what you’re wearing.

Come prepared
Your resume will be helpful for organizations featuring full-time and/or internship opportunties. Unofficial transcripts, reference sheets, a pen/pencil and notebook may also come in handy.
